About me
Hi, I'm Alex Movchun, an artist from Ukraine, born on March 27, 1988. Painting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I originally pursued a degree in architecture and worked in that field for a few years, but in 2015, I made a life-changing decision—I left my job to fully dedicate myself to oil painting. That moment truly divided my life into “before” and “after,” and the “after” turned out to be exactly what I had always dreamed of.
It was around that time that I discovered Carol Marine’s book and became fascinated by the daily painting movement. I completely immersed myself in art, which soon led to my first exhibitions and workshops.
These days, my main focus is pet portraits, though I also enjoy switching things up with still life, portraits, and landscapes.
“Every pet is unique. Just look into their eyes—you’ll see an entire story there! Capturing that essence and bringing it to life on canvas is my greatest passion.”

Statement
When confronting the constant change inherent to plein air painting (the light coming and going, the clouds moving, the colors changing etc) one becomes especially sensitive to the transience of nature; how one moment is constantly changing into the next. For me, painting is a way to savor and share such moments through what I consider to be a sacred dialogue between myself and the land before me
