Emerald Reflections

This painting was created during a quiet family evening by the lake. As the sun slowly dipped below the horizon and everyone else went for a swim after the heat of the day, I pulled a small pochade box from my backpack and wandered off in search of a subject.

I was tired of the familiar compositions of trees, water, and sky—the rule of thirds, the golden ratio, all the things we naturally look for. This time, I wanted to paint something different. Something beautiful, yet so ordinary that most people simply walk past it without noticing.

I found myself standing by the shore, watching the green reflections of the trees ripple across the water. They were constantly shifting and changing, yet despite the movement, the overall shape remained recognizable.

It reminded me of our own lives. We are always changing under the influence of time, people, and circumstances. Nothing stays exactly the same. But beneath all that movement, there is something constant—something that defines who we truly are. Everything else is only a passing reflection.
